replace cheney?
a good column on the big buzz about cheney's hunting accident. the media calls for his resignation, but is it a bad idea? should he continue to take the hit for the administration or should he bring in a successor?

There is talk of replacing Cheney? I think it's a little late. It should have been done 6 years ago.

this raises several questions for me. what is so bad about cheney? what makes him any worse than any other politician/vice president? would you feel the same if the media were berating al gore back in the 90's?
there seems to be an overwhelming sentiment with some people that bush and cheney are corrupt and evil, not to mention incompetent. these are not characteristics limited to our current administration, these things pervade every inch of political society. i hold this administration accountable for its errors, but i remain objective. i cant understand why people think that these men are any different from any other politicos. well, like i said, everybody loves a target.

Your right, bush and cheney are certainly scapegoats for everything and they arent unlike any other politians. But isnt that the problem? That Americans have to pick between the better of two evils instead of who is most qualified for the position? Shouldnt we stand up and say "NO! We are not going to allow this country to be run in the ground by asshole politians!"? But no, we continue to put up with politians who dont care about americans. Indifference is the American way I suppose.
